Frequently asked questions

Your questions, our answers

What is an endowment fund?

An endowment fund (fonds de dotation) is a non-profit organisation, created by the French Economic Modernisation Act of 4 August 2008, that receives and manages donations to fund a mission of general interest. The Fonds de Dotation Demain, based in Marseille, funds associations in France and abroad working in education, access to energy and economic self-reliance.

What tax reduction can I get for my donation?

For French taxpayers, an individual deducts 66% of their donation from income tax, up to 20% of taxable income: a €100 donation therefore costs €34. A company deducts 60% of its donation from corporate tax, up to €20,000 or 0.5% of turnover excluding VAT.

How do I receive my tax receipt?

The tax receipt is generated and sent automatically by email as soon as the payment is confirmed. You simply enter the amount on your French tax return, with no supporting document to attach.

Is my online donation secure?

Yes. Payments are collected by HelloAsso, a French payment platform dedicated to organisations of general interest. No bank details pass through or are stored by the Fonds de Dotation Demain.

What exactly does my donation pay for?

Each donation funds a specific action, carried out on the ground by a partner association and monitored by an ambassador of the fund: schooling and training, access to care, solar installations and access to water, workshops and income-generating micro-businesses.

Can my company become a sponsor?

Yes. The fund welcomes both financial and skills-based sponsorship, with a sponsorship agreement and a report on how the funds are used. The Contact page lets you start the conversation.

Can my association apply for support?

Yes. Associations running a social or environmental project can introduce themselves via the contact form. Each application is reviewed by the fund's secretariat and then submitted to the committee.
